The Future of Defiled West

Hello!

You may (or may not) have noticed that our previous update was quite a while ago, and the game hasn't been updated. Believe it or not - we're still working on it daily. We've decided that the itch version of the game will not be updated until the Demo is live on steam, for the February 2025 Next Fest. 


What's changed since you last heard from us? 

  • New Enemies (Crimson Disciple, Shackled & Unshackled Slammer, Sheriff Brutality, Drunken Deputy and more)
  • Enemy logic redesign: Enemies can target things other than the player, perform multiple types of attack, prioritise targets
  • New gadgets, following the change mentioned in the first update
  • Workbenches can craft different things, allowing us to use them in other levels...
  • A new map (Occult Stables), the first without a boss.. but also the first to have a different objective.
  • Lots of behind the scenes code changes
  • The release of Atmospheric Onslaught - our secondary game which will also be joining Defiled West in the Next Fest. https://marshs.itch.io/atmospheric-onslaught
  • The completion of core mechanics
  • Town selection map
  • Directional & enhanced blood effects
  • Rebalancing
  • New weapons (like the one in the screenshot!)

We still have a long way to go, and a lot to add. Expect more screenshots when we polish up the game in December.
